zeGOgroup Vice-President, Mohammed is a health economist and expert in health systems, planning and development project management, and for 7 years headed up a private sector consulting company.

About

After post-graduate studies in Economics and Project Management at the Université des Sciences et techniques and at the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises (IAE) in Lille, France, Mohammed joined the US Development Agency, USAID in 1985 as Project Officer responsible for energy, private sector and health sector development projects. From 1992 to 1998, he headed up a consultancy firm. Convinced that the problems of the health sector offered more urgent challenges and a greater potential for personal fulfillment, he decided to focus on health sector development. From then until 2003, he successively led two major USAID-funded projects in his native Morocco, the first in the area of social marketing (SOMARC); the second, (PHR+) in the field of health sector reform.

2003 saw him heading for new horizons in Ghana, where he headed up a regional project, also financed by USAID, responsible for health reforms in 21 West and Central African countries, until 2007. Since then, he has been consultant and team leader for the Grant Management Solutions (GMS) project, providing technical support to Global Fund Principal Recipients and CCMs. He has also worked directly for the Global Fund in Yemen and Egypt. Both types of interventions involve capacity and skills building in program management, finance and accounting, organization, management, procurement and supply chain management, and governance strengthening. His teams, working alongside local consultants and organizations, have helped boost grant performance in Central African Republic, Jordan, Morocco, Mauritania, Yemen, Djibouti, Egypt and Burkina Faso.
