Formed in 2008 by four francophone associations dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS, Coalition Internationale Sida PLUS (Coalition Plus) aims to leverage international funding, increase efforts to give AIDS sufferers worldwide a powerful voice and promote patient-centric programs to fight the disease.
In response to the growing need to mobilize human and financial resources to fight HIV/AIDS and to shortcomings in many existing programs (funds flow, quality of care, effectiveness of prevention campaigns, etc), four major associations - AIDES in France, ALCS (Association de Lutte Contre le Sida) in Morocco, ARCAD SIDA (Association de Recherche, de Communication et d'Accompagnement à Domicile des personnes vivant avec le VIH/SIDA) in Mali and COCQ-Sida (Coalition des Organismes Communautaires Québécois de Lutte contre le SIDA) in Quebec - have grouped together to go beyond their existing international partnerships by forming a common entity dedicated to promoting the community approach.
Other members and partners: Groupe Sida Genève, Kimirina (Ecuador), ARAS (Romania), ANSS (Burundi), Amo Congo (DRC), REVS+ (Burkina Faso).
Through member-led actions, C+ aims to bring about significant change in HIV/AIDS strategy to provide responses better adapted to recipients' needs.
C+ brokers partnerships with leading researchers to initiate, support and assess members' innovative projects.
In light of this, with a view to ensuring care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS and their families and friends, Coalition + carries out:
